Kisumu County security team has made elaborate plans to offer maximum security to the locals during the festive season.
County Commissioner John Elungata said that there are enough security officers who will be deployed in strategic positions to avert attacks.
Elungata said police officers who were on leave have been recalled to offer security to the people.
“We have mobilised all the officers back to the stations, our sub county commissioners will also be present to coordinate security matters within their areas,” he said.
Addressing a press conference in Kisumu on Monday, the commissioner told the locals to cooperate with security officers.
He urged those organising events that attract crowds to seek for security from the police.
Elungata said patrols will be intensified within the city and asked members of the public to report any suspicious characters to the police.
“The presence of officers will be felt in every corner of the county and I want to ask the residents that please ask for police officers for any event that attract over 50 people,” he said.
He also appealed to churches and mosques to liaise with security personnel to assist with screening of faithfuls while entering worship areas.
Elungata said that in the wake of security threats being reported across the country, security will not be compromised.
