Nominated Senator Martha Wangare has appealed to Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to tame corruption in the Judiciary which she said is contributing to the spewing of hate messages.

Wangare said politicians always walk away with the offence because they pervert the course of justice.

Speaking in Gilgil on Tuesday, the nominated Senator said the situation is dire since some politicians making the inflammatory statements allege that they can defend themselves in the court and walk out scot free.

“It is sad when we hear people making inflammatory statements that can plunge this country into tribal war again and they say that they will defend themselves in court as “they are not guilty”.

“This shows that those at the courts have been compromised and the Chief Justice should step in and put things straight in the Judiciary,” she charged.

She added that it is highly unbecoming for an elected leader to stand in public and issue statements that target a particular community in an adverse way.

Wangare further urged all politicians to be part of national cohesion in the country and desist from any motive that could see the country slide back to ethnicity.

She spoke in the wake of rising number of leaders involved in hate speech with the latest entrant being Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo who has been grilled by the Criminal Investigation Department.
