Nominated Senator Janet Ong’era has urged women in Kisii County to embrace agribusiness and become financially empowered.
This, she said, will stop them from fully depending on their husbands for money as well as boosting the county’s economy.
Speaking in Kisii on Thursday, Onge’ra said the county stands to develop if all women embraced agriculture and business.
“I am urging my fellow women to embrace agriculture and business to promote the county’s economy,” said Ong’era.
She added: “We women have for long been depending on our husbands but time has come that we need to do business and farming so that we can get money and move this county and nation forward”.
The Senator challenged county leaders to unite and develop the region.
She also pledged to help women to get to the top in the business sector.
“I promise to fulfill the promises and urge my fellow leaders in this county to join hands as we move our county forward,” she said.
