Police in Dujis have arrested seven people in connection with the recent killings witnessed in the area after inter-clan skirmishes broke out.

Addressing the press in his office, North Eastern Regional security coordinator Mohammed Saleh confirmed the arrest.

The seven who were arrested on Saturday evening are being held at Garissa town police station for interrogation.

Saleh said area security detail is pursuing more suspects over the issue.

"We have the names and identities of the suspects," he said.

"Some of them have gone underground but we shall hunt them down and bring them to book," he added.

Mr Saleh had met elected leaders from the area prior to the attacks which happened last week and urged those involved in the skirmishes to cease and allow peace talks.

"Traditional conflict resolution methods have worked in the past and we believe they will work again," he said.

Saleh said there is also need to involve the neighbouring communities in a dialogue to bring peace in the area.
