Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has warned sex workers operating in Eldoret town that they will be arrested for engaging in an illegal business.
On Wednesday, Hassan said sex workers from other regions have flocked the town during this harvesting season to siphon money from innocent farmers after selling their produce.
"I give a stern warning to sex workers who have made the town their home to vacate and look for alternative jobs or be arrested and prosecuted," he said in his office.
He said the sex workers are fond of stealing money from innocent people and also portraying a bad picture of Eldoret town.
"I won’t allow such business to continue in the town while I am still the county commissioner. My officers and I will start conducting arrests from today and will continue until we get rid of them," he said.
He urged residents to beware of such sex workers since their aim is to steal from them.
