Uasin Gishu County government has set aside Sh6 million for installation of CCTV cameras in Eldoret town.
CeC in charge of ICT Barnabas Sang said the system will help reduce insecurity in the town.
"Tendering of the project has been done and it will soon be rolled out. The project will be done by the youth as a means of offering employment to them," he said.
He said the CCTVs will be installed in insecurity prone areas such as market places, bus stations and near Paradise Hotel, where cases of theft and robberies are paramount.
"We have already installed CCTV cameras at the county headquarters and slaughter house, which has reduced insecurity," he said.
