Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has asked leaders in the county to heed President Kenyatta's advice and shun political wrangles and differences.

Speaking to journalists when he paid a courtesy call to Kiambu Assembly speaker Gathii Irungu at the Kiambu County headquarters on Wednesday, Wamatangi said leaders have no option but to shun wrangles.

The senator said that wrangles among a section of leaders in the county hurts development.

“Kiambu leaders should stop wrangles and infighting among themselves and focus on development,” said Wamatangi.

The Kiambu senate lawmaker warned that the county is likely to stagnate in terms of development if leaders do not stop frequent wrangles.

On Monday Thika Member of Parliament (MP) Alice Ng’ang’a urged President Uhuru Kenyatta not to abandon Kiambu county.

Speaking to journalists after issuing bursary funds to beneficiaries at Thika Sub-County stadium, the MP said that leaders are only jostling for President Kenyatta’s attention and that he should visit the county.

She added that every leader in the county wants to get the attention of the president hence their personal differences.

Nga’ng’a said that they are ready to end the wrangles and differences for the sake of development and winning the support of the national government.

“Our President should not abandon us but visit us so that we can take development to greater heights,” she said.

Speaking during a two days governor’s summit at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri last week, President Uhuru said that he has not visited some parts of central Kenya because of political intolerance and wrangles among their leaders.

President Kenyatta said that he feels bad when leaders who are all his friends exchange harsh words in his presence.

He asked leaders to exercise tolerance and learn to embrace each others’ views.

On Monday, a section of Kiambu Town residents urged their leader to shelve their differences to enable the county to benefit from development projects being initiated by the national government.
