Governor James of Ongwae of Kisii and his Nyamira counterpart have yet again been urged to solve the border standoff in Keroka township.

This comes after people believed to be revenue collectors from both sides clashed on Thursday leading to standstill of businesses in the town.

Speaking moments after the skirmishes in the border town, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire condemned the violence and urged the leadership of the two counties to remain committed in solving controversial issues surrounding the border.

“It’s really wrong that overtime we hear people fighting over a boundary. We must always live as good neighbours and I am not impressed the way this small issue is being handled. It’s time the two governors dedicate their time in solving the crisis for the good of our people,” he said.

Bosire accused the two counties leadership of being ‘reluctant’ to solve the issues and said time had come for them to face it as a way of combating further animosity between residents living either side of the town.

“It’s unfortunate that they have been reluctant to solve the issue and this is the time to stand up and salvage the situation. We don’t want incidences where people get injured or even killed out of issues that can be solved by leaders,” he said.

The ODM MP promised his support and urged other member of parliament from Gusii region to chip in and call for dialogue that will be spearheaded by the two county bosses.
