In an effort to help fight against terrorism, the University of Nairobi Kikuyu campus has organised a session to train students and staff on how to respond to terror attacks.

Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Vice Chancellor Peter Mbithi said students and staff would be trained on how to respond to a terror attacks.

He said this was important to avoid confusion during such times.

He said few months ago when their was an explosion of the transformer at the institution, many students confused it with a terror attack and how they responded caused damage and injuries.

Prof Mbithi said the training would enable students act with knowledge on what to be done during attacks.

The students after the training will be expected to teach other people on on how to counter such attacks in the event they occur.

Mbithi said officers who deal with terrorism as well as bomb experts will be training the students and staff on Saturday.

He said some aspects need to be addressed to avoid panic.

"These Saturday we have organised a training session for students and staff on terror and how to respond in case of such cases," said Mbithi.

He said the training was important and it will help students to be vigilant.

He called on students to ensure they attend the session to gain from the training.
