South Africa was the first country in Africa to allow it's citizens to access and use the new HIV/AIDS drug.
The HIV/AIDS combination therapy drug called Truvada is believed to block infection by the human immuno-deficiency virus.
It is taken prior to exposure and it is believed to be active for eight hours. The government of Kenya is also planning to allow its citizens to access and use this new drug.
Demonstrations trials are being carried out by relevant organizations in Nairobi and Kisumu. Many people do not know more about this new drug truvada.
The state should create more awareness on the new drug before allowing its citizens to access and use it. Reports and results of demonstration trials being carried should be made available to the public.
Health officials and experts should scrutinize the findings and make sure all burning questions are answered including possible side effects of the drug.
