A catholic priest has blasted politicians giving false promises to the public.

Dr David Muvaa of St Marys Parish Tala charged the congregation on Sunday when he castigated political leaders who pledge goodies they can not deliver.

The fiery priest who hosted Machakos County Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala alongside other two MCAs who had been invited for a fund drive in aid of the church vowed to be on the forefront campaigning against bad leaders in the next general election.

"It is high time the church stood against leaders who are used to make exciting promises to the public during gatherings just for the sake of seeking fame and eventually fail to honour them," said Fr Muvaa.

"Let it be known to all and sundry that come next general election, I will personally issue advisories on the candidates seeking political offices in the cadres so that we weed out dishonest politicians from leadership."

At the same time the Deputy Governor Benard Kiala accused the county government of failing to address real issues affecting residents instead engaging in hyper projects which are a non profit to the people.

"Devolution is a right to every citizen and residents have the right to be involved in identifying projects that are to be implemented in their respective regions in accordance to the constitution," said Kiala.

Kiala also asked the faithful to pray for the oncoming Pope's tour in the country.
