A 53-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning in a house at Ting’ang’a in connection with the kidnapping of four children.
The four children aged, five, six, eight and ten were rescued with reports that they went missing four days ago.
Residents said they suspect the man is operating a syndicate involved in kidnapping children before selling them in Tanzania.
Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ng’etich said members of the public tipped off police who responded swiftly.
“During the arrest police also conducted a quick search in the two bedroomed house and recovered snacks we suspect are drugged and used as bait for children,’’ Ng’etich said.
The police boss said the suspect is working with six other people who are in Mombasa and Nairobi.
Ngetich said cases of missing children have increased in the area.
“I want to urge parents to be very responsible of their children because such criminals have ways to lure your children to follow them. Train your children not to talk to strangers and always ensure they are playing where you can see them,’’ Ng’etich said.
