A section of tea farmers from Gesima ward have urged the Kenya Tea Development Agency under the Nyansiongo Tea factory management to set up measures that will help them to take tea leaves from buying centers on time.

According to the farmers who spoke to this Hivisasa writer on Wednesday at Riaking’oina buying center, unlike other years whereby January used to be dry, this year is different as they have plenty of harvests due the heavy rains.

Led by chairman Atera Jackson, they said that due to that they have a big harvest in their shamba and therefore the management needs to set up measures which will help them sell the tea leaves on time onece they reach the buying centers.

“We urging our management to adjust its measure of ensuring that they take tea leaves from buying centers on time so that farmers can benefit while the leaves are still fresh,” said Atera. 

They added that they encounter loses when the vehicles delay and so they urged the management to help them to have a heavy bonus this year.
