Residents of Tala ward have been advised to register with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) in a bid to ease clearing of hospital bills.

Addressing residents at Tala Market on Wednesday, Tala ward MCA Alex Kamitu said residents should always be prepared to deal with issues such as high medical bills as one does not know when they might fall ill.

He noted that it was a sad thing to see someone being detained in a hospital after treatment due to unpaid bills.

The MCA said that such incidences can be avoided if residents register with NHIF.

"It is a pity to see relatives staying in hospital after treatment due to high hospital bills, yet such instances could be avoided if one registers with NHIF, as the hospital bills will be cleared on time and patients discharged,” said Kamitu.

He also advised youth to shun laziness and idleness and encouraged them to engage in income generating activities.
