Residents of Tala have raised their voice concerning Tala Dam which is located behind Tala market claiming that it needs to be fenced as it poises danger and has led to deaths of locals.

Speaking to this writer, Tala location chief Pius Nzioka pointed out that many residents lose their lives in the dam while trying to swim or washing clothes which he said was putting the residents at risk, where he now wants them to put an end to that habit.

Residents on their part have said that they have been raising their grievances to both the county and national governments respectively to have the dam fenced but up to now no action has been taken.

One of the residents, Meshack Kyalo said that parents within the dam are worried about the safety of their children especially when they are coming from school or when schools are closed because many children love to play around the dam and may end up drowning in the dam.

"We are always scared about our kids safety when they are coming from school, they may end up drowning. That's why we request both the county government and national government to intervene and fence this dam," Tala location chief Pius Nzioka said.

He further added that in recent years they have also been making requests to have the dam fenced but urged residents to practise patience and cautioned parents to take care of their children.
