Wareng sub county education officer Mr David Chirchir has warned headteachers against forcing pupils to repeat classes saying it is illegal.
Speaking on Friday during a thanks giving ceremony at Eldoret Premier School, Chirchir said it is illegal and against the law to force a child to rewind a class.
"I am handling a case where two students lost their lives after they were forced by their teachers to repeat despite their age, while twenty have dropped out of school," he said.
He said that not every pupil can do well in class since others have different skills and should be left to continue with their education no matter their grades.
He also warned parents who don't take their children to schools that they will be arrested and charged for child negligence.
"I have credible information from my grassroots education officers that there are parents who deny their children the right to education despite it being free and compulsory, instead using them to earn a living. Such parents will be arrested," he warned.
