A 19-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly defiling a girl in Ekalakala Location on Sunday.

The boy, who sells boiled eggs in Ekalakala market, is said to have kidnapped the 11-year-old girl who was walking home after a church service.

Confirming the incident, area chief Steven Kivindu said the girl was rescued by villagers who heard her screams.

The residents then took the suspect to Masinga Police Station where he will be held pending investigations.

The girl was taken to Masinga General Hospital for a medical check up.

Police officers said the suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as the doctor's report concerning the victims condition is released.
