A 19-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly stealing a goat which was grazing by the roadside next to his home.

Gregory Oromo was arrested on Friday afternoon following a tip-off from neighbours who claimed to have seen him stealing the the goat.

Confirming the arrest, Byando area assistant chief, Nicholas Mbala said that they had enough reason to believe that Oromo was behind the disappearance of the goat belonging to Crispian Odongo.

“Judging from his past records and accounts from witnesses, there is no doubt that the suspect is behind the theft, and we must get to the bottom of the matter,” said Mbala.

The owner of the sheep, Crispian Odongo, however, wanted to solve the matter without involving the police, but Oromo was allegedly uncooperative by refusing to reveal where he had taken the goat.

His behaviour prompted Odongo to call the area police, who tried to get information from him but all in vain.

“This could have been all over a long time ago, but the suspect has maintained his innocence and nobody believes him. Our work now is to reveal the truth,” said Mbala.

Ochieng is currently held at the Chief’s offices while investigations are underway.
