A tenant form Wisdom Estate in Lela has been compelled to pay Sh11,000 after digging up the floor of his tenants latrine to retrieve Sh3,000 he is said to have dropped inside the latrine.
Charles Okoyo took up the issue to the area Chief Nicholus Toro who decided to solve the issue between the two without taking him to court.
The tenant is said to have dug through the floor of the latrine on January 10, to secure the Sh3,000.
He has been given a time limit of 2 weeks to meet the expenses.
He is also to pay for the services of the mason.
He however raised complaints saying it is like the two, the mason and the landlord colluded to exploit him.
“How can such a small hole cost Sh11,000? It was not my intention to spoil the pit latrine but I was trying to secure money," he said.
The landlord however refuted the claims that he was exploiting the tenant.
