The disabled in Kibera who benefitted from wheelchairs on Friday thanked the Kenya Re team for taking the Niko Fiti campaign to the slum.
They said they had been living in tough conditions because of the mobility challenges.
"It was hard for me to walk for long distances and therefore I had to struggle. Life was hard. I thank God for bringing you here. You have given me this wheelchair and what I can say is thank you. May God bless the management team and all the staff here,’ said David Oguna, a cobbler.
Ernest Indika too said the wheelchair will help him engage in business to fend for his family.
On her part, Getrude Kavindi said she has been selling sweets but had no umbrella. She thanked the team for giving them the umbrellas too.
On the same note, Elvis Kale from the Association for the Physical Disabled of Kenya challenged the beneficiaries to use the wheelchairs well so that they can boost the economy of this nation.
