Just like their opposites, churches in Nakuru Town also go through the same ordeal as the night clubs.
There can only be one king at one time. When one rises another must go down. This trend started in late 90s with the introduction of the first charismatic church in Nakuru.
The "Door" was the name of the ministry that was located behind Shell Petroleum Station that is currently Petro along Kanu Street. The church attracted youths from all walks of life with their music and dress code that was unique at that time.
The high waist trousers and shiny suits. The music was funky and hip and the place was fully packed all the time since church services were exciting. This was until the emergence of Deliverance Church led by then Pastor Mark Kariuki.
Every sheep went for greener pastures and this was Deliverance Church. The Door went out the door when almost everyone headed to Deliverance.
Every New Year’s Eve Deliverance was the place to be. They brought guest artists the likes of Rufftone. The church grew so fast that every service was full until the rise of Charismata Church. Yeah you guessed right, all roads were heading to Charismata. They even had buses that would pick up the congregants from home to church and back. The reign of Charismata was shortlived as people now were starting to look for miracles and healing and the only place that was provided was at Neno Everngelistic Church. Neno was doing fine until the mother of them all appeared the next door. Kingdom Seekers.
Kingdom Seekers took the town by storm and became famous when they held a mass in the hope of resurrecting one of their two pastors who died in a road accident. The miracle never happened but that did not affect attendance.
The church has grown since then and currently it is the biggest in Nakuru Town. Kingdom Seekers is the current king.
Only time will tell if there will come another that will dethrone them.
