A gang in Ngoigwa area of Thika sub-county has now shifted its activities from muggings and robbery with violence and is now engaging in theft of household items and chicken.

Speaking to Ngoigwa chief Julias Ngatia, for the past two weeks, there have been reports that people’s houses have been broken into and household items such as gas cylinders stolen.

The chief explained that the group must be very conversant with the area as they only steal in homesteads where their owners are out working.

He also said the gang could be using a person from the area to spy on the homes which they strike.

He also revealed that the gang has also been stealing poultry as they have struck two homesteads in the past one week, and stolen chicken worth more than Sh100,000.

The chief said they are hunting the gang and have also liaised with Thika police to help with the investigations.

“We have a lead which we are following together with Thika police and we are sure we will get the criminals before they cause more losses to residents. We blocked all ways of mugging and robberies during the night but now they want to get us back to those days of insecurity during the day which we will not accept at all,” the administrator said.
