Growing up in the ghettos of Nakuru, I have come to learn that there are no starrings in real life.
These tough bad-asses only exist in movies. In movies, a starring will never die.
One man can come up against legions of armies all by himself, (thinking of Rambo), and come out victorious.
That can only happen in Hollywood. In reality, it is a very different story. It is sad how many young men and women we have lost in their attempts of being starrings.
Most end up dead, in jail or paralysed. These kids often assume they have become untouchable because they always have a gang behind them.
A group of youths with a lack of purpose and understanding, terrorise the community that they live in and base their operations on fear.
Instilling fear to anyone who is not their own. They steal, kill and rape without shame.
The more they get, the more they want, and in the process, recruiting new members and enlarging their territory.
But as they say; "there is no honour among thieves." The inevitable always happens; the infighting and greed will lead them to turn against each other in the process end up killing each other.
And the community will always take advantage and eliminate them. The problem is that it seems like every finish line is a beginning of a new race. The fall of another marks the rise of the other. It seems like they just never learn from history.
Another will rise and fall in the same pattern as the predecessors.
These youths who are void of understanding and wisdom, end up dead having achieved nothing in life. A majority most often die or get jailed in their teenage years or early 20s.
If they escape being burnt alive, they won't escape a bullet.
Either way, another productive member of society is lost. Lost, leaving nothing behind but a mark of folly.
If only they could learn that "he who rolls up a stone will end up being crushed by it", then they would learn from history.
There are no starrings in real life, only victims.
