Young people in Nakuru intending to get into blogging have been encouraged to give it a shot, but warned that they should not get into it expecting to make lots of money overnight.
The youth who had turned up in large numbers to learn how to blog, received pieces of advise by some of Nakuru town’s best known bloggers.
The introduction to blogging session was held at the American Corner of the Kenya National Library Services.
Although the session was meant to look into how to set up a blog and create content, the participants were mostly interested in knowing how to make money out of blogging, and what it takes.
“Blogging definitely pays but it takes time. It takes effort to discover your niche, invest in your blog and sweat it out. But at the end of the day, your efforts will pay off,” advised Joseph Ngugi who runs a technology blog.
Another speaker was Nakuru’s most prolific twitter personality Alex the Blogger better known as Moseax.
The participants were excited to learn that for Moseax, blogging is a full time job, and he has worked for some of the blue chip companies in Kenya making thousands of shillings in the process.
“I’ve worked for companies such as Safaricom, Coca-Cola, Airtel and a host of many others. I am the official SportPesa twitter ambassador, and I can assure you that if you take blogging seriously, you’ll definitely make enough money to live comfortably,” revealed Moseax.
