Youth in Thika East Sub-County have been urged to cooperate with police by giving information about suspects in a bid to tame rising cases of insecurity in the region.
Addressing residents of Ngoliba and Maguguni on Monday, Ngoliba MCA Grison Ngigi noted that security had been deteriorating in the area recently though the police are working to curb the menace.
Ngigi stated that youth in the region should come out and help the police in the fight against crime adding that they could be having information that may help in the arrest of criminals.
“I want to appeal to young people and all residents to support security initiatives aimed at curbing crime in Thika East region,” he said.
The MCA noted that he has been supporting Nyumba Kumi and community policing though they have failed completely in the area and called upon his fellow leaders to support the initiatives.
The legislator urged residents in the area to embrace the Nyumba Kumi Initiative saying it has been successful in various parts of the county like Kikuyu as it has led to the arrest of several criminals.
He emphasised on the need to have more security officers conducting night patrols in the area.
The area OCPD Daniel Chacha, speaking in a different meeting said that they are working towards improving security in the area.
