Thika Town Member of Parliament Alice Ng’ang’a has urged chiefs in the constituency to closely work with residents in boosting security in the area.

Speaking when she handed driving licenses to 22 chiefs who had undergone training under her sponsorship at Thika Town on Tuesday, the MP said that local chiefs have an important role to play on matters security.

The Thika MP asked chiefs to establish good relations with the members of the public saying it will help streamline law and order.

She stated that security will be boosted if there are good working relations between the police and the public.

“I am urging security agencies to work together in order to ensure and guarantee safety of locals especially during the festive season,” she said.

The MP lauded the initiatives being undertaken by the area security officials noting that crime rate in the area had reduced in the past five months.

Ng’ang’a urged the government to provide adequate resources to all law enforcers and administrators to enable them ensure security of Kenyans.

The lawmaker pledged to support the local administrators as they strive to eliminate crime and guarantee law and order in the constituency.
