Three people were on Monday arraigned before a Kisumu law court over vandalism and trespassing into private property.
Philemon Kwena, Jhonstone Okoth and Peter Nyambedha denied the charges before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Lucy Gitari for the offences allegedly committed on October 25 this year.
The court heard that the three illegally gained access into the compound of one Joseph Oboyo in Otongolo, Kisumu County and vandalised part of the fence and the gate before gaining access into the compound.
The accused told the court that Oboyo owed them money which he had allegedly refused to pay back and they had to use any means to reach him as he was avoiding them.
They told the court that the alleged vandalism did not occur as the fence and the gate were already destroyed. They are said to have worked for the complainant.
They three are said to have assisted in planting maize for the complainant, who owed them Sh5,000 in arrears.
The work is said to have been done back in June this year.
They were released on a cash bail of Sh5, 000 each with surety of a similar amount pending hearing on January 13, 2015.
