The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission officers on Wednesday arrested three prosecutors in Kikuyu for allegedly receiving bribes to influence a criminal case.
Timothy Odhiambo, Martin Mutio and Joseph Mwenja were arrested for receiving Sh100,000 each as an inducement to facilitate the reinstatement of an ongoing criminal case before the court.
Speaking after the arrest, the EACC officer in charge of the Sub County Mr Wilson OKundo said that the three were arrested at the Kikuyu court premises in the probation offices and taken to Kikuyu Police Station.
He said that the three are said to have received the bribe from Mr Joshua Mwakideu to facilitate the re-instatement of a Kikuyu criminal case No.124 of 2015.
He said that the three will be arraigned in court for the offence.
"The three have been released on a police bond of Sh30,000 each and are set to appear in an anti-corruption court in Nairobi on November 25," said Okundo. He, however, said that the EACC is monitoring government officials on corruption in an effort to fight the vice within the government bodies.
