Traders in Machakos town have been warned against engaging in the announced strike planned by the town chamber of Commerce.
Speaking in Machakos town on Monday the minister of finance Elizabeth Nzioka stated the strike was against the law as it was politicized.
"The end executive committee of the chamber of commerce who have called for the meeting should call it off and hold talks with the county government so that we resolve the issues," said Nzioka.
Nzioka has been supported by the executive committee member in charge of roads and public works Kioko Luka.
"The strike planned for Tuesday is political, license issue is being used as an excuse. We will give protection to traders who will be willing to run their businesses as normal," said Luka.
On the contrary, the chairman of Chamber of commerce in Machakos town has stayed adamant that there would be strike due to the increased high licenses.
According to the Nzioka the license amounts were passed after all the five chambers in Machakos County were consulted.
