Two people have been confirmed dead while several others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in, got involved in an accident in Mumbuni wa Mundu area, along the Mwala-Kithimani road, in Mwala Sub-County.
Confirming the Monday incident, Matungulu OCPD Joseph Chesire said the Nissan which was heading to Kithimani from Machakos, rolled several times before coming to a halt, after one of its tyres burst.
"One of the tyres of the Nissan which was carrying 14 passengers burst, causing it to roll several times. Two passengers died on the spot while several sustained injuries,” said Chesire.
Chesire said the injured passengers were taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital's mortuary.
