Two suspected gunmen were on Sunday night killed by police officers in Kwa Mwambi area in Machakos county.

Confirming the incident, Machakos police OCPD Adiel Nyange stated that the two were in a group of four who shot at police officers when they were confronted.

"Our officers acted really fast and confronted the thugs who on their end reiterated and shot back resulting to the death of the suspects," said Nyange.

According to the police boss, the incident is a great move towards enhancing security in Machakos town and its environs.

"The terrorists were in possession of pistols and guns and are the gunmen who have been terrorising residents of Miwani. Two escaped but police are still searching for them," he added.

The residents of Machakos town have been lining up in the Machakos hospital mortuary to have a view of the men killed to try and identify them.

This comes less than a week after the residents of Miwani area held a demonstration demanding for police crackdown on security improvement.
