Kenya's universities and other higher learning institutions have been urged to enhance county's capacity to monitor and evaluate policies and programmes. Karatina University vice chancellor Prof Oloo Abudho said there is increased public demand for greater accountability and transparency.
Speaking in Nakuru on Thursday during trainers workshop involving professionals from Kenya's Universities, Prof Obutho noted that the government recognises the importance of monitoring and evaluation in improving implementation of government programmes.
Obudho said that existing assessment of monitoring and evaluation M&E capacity in Africa reveals gaps in both institutional and individual’s skills development for Monitoring and Evaluation.
"The existing assessments of M&E capacity in Africa reveals gaps in both institutional and individuals skills development of M&E," said Obudho.
