Chemists remained closed in Maseno following a crackdown against businesses without licences.
Patients were forced to postpone their treatments or seek medication elsewhere.
“I have been sitting here all day hoping the chemist would open but there are no hopes. I have to postpone my treatment,” said Joyce Karambu a resident of Maseno.
Others were forced to seek medication in the neighboring towns such as Luanda.
It is believed the ‘chemists’ received a tip off that there was a crackdown and closed their businesses.
“I fear those officials of quality assurance department. They like harassing private medical institutions. Whether I have the right qualifications I better not face them,” said James Kisabuli who runs a chemist in Maseno.
“I will open my business when things become clear. I fear those officials and I am not ready to face them.”
