Basing on the many success stories in their data base, the Nakuru County Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs has expressed confidence on the impact Uwezo, youth and women enterprise funds on the beneficiaries in the county.
Speaking during the official loans disbursement ceremony in Nakuru on Wednesday, Chief of Staff in the ministry, Joseph Tonui noted that the loans had had an indisputable impact to many residents over the years.
He specifically cited rural and slum areas where women and youth groups who had previously benefitted were doing well after investing in business and other income generating activities.
"The funds have greatly improved the living standards of many youth and women, a majority who were previously living in abject poverty," he said.
Tonui further called on the beneficiary groups to fast track repayment plans so that other groups could also have a chance of benefiting from the same.
"I appeal to all beneficiaries to continue managing the funds well and pay on time so that others can also benefit in future," he added.
Nakuru received a total of Sh32 million with the Women Enterprise Fund bagging Sh18.4 million, the youth fund receiving Sh1.2million and the Uwezo Fund being awarded Sh12.8 million.
