The Nakuru County annual beauty pageant, Miss Tourism 2016 auditions, currently underway across the 11 sub-counties have elicited enthusiasm among St Paul’s University Nakuru campus students in Nakuru.
Bridgette Kwamboka, a fourth-year student, is hopeful the campus will regain the crown once more, after the 2014 crowned beauty queen, Elaine Mwangi, who hails from the campus lost it to another beauty queen last year.
Meanwhile, most students have expressed their enthusiasm in this year’s auditions taking place at selected venues across all sub-counties of Nakuru County.
Pivot Hotel will on Monday, February 15, be the venue for Nakuru West followed by Nakuru East constituency at Milele Resort on February 22.
The winners in this year’s edition will be crowned and take home handsome cash prizes.
A cash prize of Sh50,000 will be awarded to the overall winner while the first runners-up will get Sh30,000.
The second runners-up and winning ward MCA will each get pocket Sh20,000.
Those eligible should be between 21 and 28 years and residents of the county .
The auditions will run until March 2nd, 2016.
The semi-finals will later take place in Naivasha on March 4, 2016 at Buffalo Mall.
Afterwards, a two-day academy starts from March 8-11 which concludes with the finals at the Rift Valley Nakuru Sports club on March 11.
The winners will showcase Nakuru County areas of advantage in tourism.
