Nakuru County has so far registered 11,934 new voters in the second week of the 30-daylong exercise.
This, however, is a drop from the first week where it registered 12,882 new voters.
In total, the county has now registered 24,882 which translates to a paltry 35 per cent according to to the latest statistics released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
The statistics are a far cry from the set targets the commission had for the country, with voter apathy being blamed for the unfortunate turn of events.
While releasing the statistics on Thursday, IEBC chief executive Ezra Chiloba expressed fears that they may fail to meet the target they set of registering about 18 million new voters countrywide ahead of the 2017 general election.
Nakuru County which has 11 constituencies and with a population of 282,647 individuals in possession of national IDs but had not registered as at December 2015.
However, politicians and the clergy have been leading the calls to have residents register with barely 10 days to go.
