Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu wants Kiambu government to empower reformed alcoholics through employment.

Speaking to journalists at Waginge market in Kabete on Tuesday, Waititu said reformed alcoholics should be given jobs so that they are not tempted to result back to alcoholism

The MP said many reformed alcoholics were slowly re-lapsing back to their old ways of drinking.

“Both the national and county governments should create job opportunities for reformed alcoholics and other youths in order to fight the drugs abuse menace,” he said.

The Kabete lawmaker noted that cases of alcoholism among the youths had declined following President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive to crackdown on illicit brewers and sellers of second generation alcoholic drinks.

Waititu, however, said several cases of illicit brewers re-emerging have been reported and asked chiefs to fight them.

The MP said he will not allow illicit brews in Kabete warning he will lead the fight against people allegedly re-introducing brews.

Meanwhile, the MP has urged youths to remain peaceful and support him in his development agenda.

Waititu said he has lined up various development projects aimed at empowering residents.
