The just concluded Kericho by-elections was a tough war between the Jubilee party and the KANU party which was also the ruling party a while back.

KANU claims to have won the elections as their flag bearer, Paul Sang defeated Aaron Cheruiyot in the race to be the Member of Parliament in the region KANU claims that Sang won by 126,000 votes while Cheruiyot had 33,000 votes. The party says its figures were arrived at after its officials did the tallying.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), however, declared Cheruyiot as the winner after he garnered 109,358 votes while Sang came second with 56,397 votes.

KANU through the party chairman, Gideon Moi maintain that Jubilee worked hand in hand with the IEBC to rig the elections. He revealed that the elections were rigged to save the deputy president who he says was under pressure to deliver after losing in the Nyangores elections. He revealed that the deputy president, William Ruto had earlier camped in the area to push for the win by the Jubilee flag bearer but again said Kericho people supported Sang with all their heart although their votes were stolen by Jubilee in collaboration with IEBC.
