The county outdoor advertising control bill provides a legal framework for the regulation of outdoor advertisement in the counties.
It says that a person who wishes to engage in outdoor advertising shall make an application for a licence to the county executive committee responsible for matters relating to outdoor advertising.
An application for registration shall be accompanied by application fee, a written consent of the owner of the site where the advertisement shall be placed or from Kenya national highway authority if the advertisement is to be displayed on a highway land.
The applicant should also present a copy of title deed or any other document evidencing ownership of the land upon which the proposed advertisement is to be displayed.
Advertisement, once erected, shall not be altered, removed, re-erected or upgraded without prior written approval of the county executive committee.
A person who contravenes any provision of the act commits an offence and may pay a fine of up to Sh200,000.
