Police in Mombasa County have arrested a 32-year-old woman who is accused of chopping off her husband's genitals on Saturday at Fisheries area in Bamburi.
Confirming the incident, Kisauni Police Chief Richard Ngatia said the suspect allegedly chopped off the private parts of her husband following a domestic dispute.
The woman identified as Ms Pauline Mukiri who is six-month pregnant, was arrested on Sunday at Kiembeni Estate where she is reported to be hiding after allegedly committing the offence.
Ngatia said they are detaining the suspect at Bamburi Police Station adding that the suspect will be arraigned in court to answer to various charges.
“The suspect is in police custody and she is being questioned. She will be taken to court on Monday, where she will be charged with murder,” he added.
The husband, Mr Alloys Matata, died while receiving treatment at Yeshua Medical Centre in Bamburi.
According to witnesses, the man was allegedly stubbed by his wife at their home following a dispute.
Ms Aisha Said, a neighbour, claimed the woman traced her husband to a nearby bar where a bitter exchange of words ensued and the couple arrived home while they were still quarreling.
She said that the woman has been complaining that the husband was seeing other women, adding that might have been the reason behind the arguement.
“Shortly after the couple arrived in their house, we heard the man screaming. We found him lying in a pool of blood and he was taken to the hospital,” said Ms Said.
