A section of traders from Marani market in Kisii county have raised concerns over the alleged increasing number of robbers who pick pocket them on market days.

Speaking to this Hivisasa writer on Thursday, the traders said that a number of them have lost a lot of money in broad daylight.

Mrs. Grace Momanyi said that they were being antagonised by the group and therefore called for an immediate solution from the police.

“It’s really annoying that every market day we hear women yelling at the top of their voices complaining of being robbed. We have been doing thorough investigations and we can ascertain that there is a group of criminals in the area that is committing these daylight robberies very swiftly. I personally don’t understand the chemistry behind it but something needs to be done by the police,” she said.

“Everyone is giving a similar ordeal and that is why we have concluded that they are using some sort of special magic to make targets vulnerable and execute the crime unnoticed. Something urgent needs to done to curb the habit,” she added.

However, area OCPD Mr. Benjamin Kimwele said his officers have not formerly received any reports and thus urged victims to record statements and await for action to be taken.

“I will treat that as a rumor since no one has reported the matter. However, I want to challenge victims to record a statement and aid us in unearthing the truth about these claims,” he said when asked about the claims.
