Youths and women in Mombasa County are set to benefit from construction training to give them avenues of generating income.
The National Construction Authority (NCA) will train young people and women in Changamwe constituency, Mombasa County.
Planning Officer Juma Bakari said the youth and women will undergo training for construction jobs in the county.
Bakari said youth unemployment has majorly contributed to insecurity and drug abuse in the county. Unemployment in the county will be addressed through training in business, life skills and employment.
“The youth and women will get construction training that will enable them get jobs that will help in uplifting their living standards,” he said.
Bakari who was speaking at Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi’s office on Tuesday said the youth and women will receive training on basic construction skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical works and masonry.
“We want to train and empower our youths and help them secure jobs. This will also help them become innovative and entrepreneurs who will even employ others. The training the youths will receive will enable them get jobs in road construction and building of schools,” he said.
He further urged the youth to engage in income generating activities and desist from involving in unlawful acts.
