A patron at a local tourism attraction has called on Nakuru County residents to embrace local tourism. The aim it to boost the County’s tourism base.
Hippo Camp Assistant Patron, Mitchel Waithera boasted of Nakuru’s different tourism destinations further urging residents to make good use of the facilities and see their County become a leading tourist destination in the Country.
“Our centre is a reliable source for not only education but also a recreational and entertainment purposes,” she said.
“Let’s make good use of these scarce facilities so as to be part of the available fun and growth in our County,” She added.
According to the conservative expert, tourism was devolved and it was only by acknowledging the availability and importance of such facilities that the County will steadily rise to top class status in matters of development.
“It’s interesting that statistically, last month (June), we recorded the lowest number of local tourists from Nakuru and its environs as compared to international tourists other visitors from other counties,” she explained.
Other than Hippo Camp, the County is saturated with a variety of other tourist attractions at its disposal including flamingos, motor boats at Lakes Elementaita, Nakuru and Naivasha just to name a few.
