Rongai OCPD has raised the red flag over bodaboda riders who do not want to follow traffic laws making it a nightmare to other road users.

Speaking at Rongai Centre after an irate mob descended on a hit and run operator, area OCPD Joseph Mwamburi called for sanity among the operators.

“The cases being reported at the stations are wanting. Some of these young boys are endangering not only their lives but also that of their passengers and other road users,” he said.

He added, “They cause accidents and run away because they know they have not complied to even the most common necessities like having a reflector jacket, leave alone a licence.”

The OCPD further revealed that they were to mount a crackdown that will see the operators nabbed and prosecuted.

“This is a matter of life and death. A lot of people have entrusted you with their lives and that is why they allow you to carry them,” he noted.

In the mob attack, an operator had knocked down a lady near Rongai centre and was trying to run away before being apprehended by local residents. He was beaten up before being frog-marched to the Rongai Police Station.
