A Kisii businessman was on Tuesday night robbed by gunmen near Menyinkwa shopping centre at around 9pm.

Thadius Oeri says that the two hooded men who were riding on a motorcycle blocked his car and pointed a rifle at him forcing him to stop.

“One had a gun pointed at me and I had no option but to comply. They ordered me out my vehicle and took all what I had,” he said.

Oeri said he lost two mobile phones, and iPad, a laptop and Sh350,000 in cash.

Confirming the incident Menyikwa Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Daniel Oyier said that a report had been made but by the time the police arrived at the scene the two had already escaped.

He called upon the area residents to be vigilant and cautioned motorcycle operators against harbouring and aiding criminals.

“We have already launched investigations into the matter and we believe we will apprehend these few people causing trouble in the area,” the OCS said.
