Nakuru women have been challenged to form groups and access government funds to improve their lives, a business lady has advised.

Nyokabi Kagwima , a registered Nakuru contractor says that women play a critical role in the growth of the nation and there is need to sensitise them on the need to have registered entities to facilitate easy accessing of government funds .

Speaking to Hivisasa.com on Thursday in Nakuru town, Kagwima urged women to join hands and form groups and apply for Uwezo Fund to improve their livelihood.

“I urge Nakuru women to form groups, register them and apply for government funds,” said the businesslady.

Kagwima challenged them to compete with youths and persons with disabilities in the 30 per cent tender slot set aside for them by the national government.

“The government has set aside 30 per cent of public tenders for youth, women and PLWDs and women should compete in these lucrative tenders,” said Kagwima who claimed she has been awarded two tenders to upgrade feeder roads in Nakuru County.

Kagwima, however, urged the county government to implement the 30 percent tender rule to ensure more youth and women benefit from it.

“Women and youth in Nakuru have not been impressed by the 30 per cent tender rule because it has not being fully implemented,” said Kagwima.

She also urged youth to follow in her footsteps by forming groups and registering them to win public tenders.
