The ceremony took place at the Kisii Level Six Teaching and Referral Hospital under the leadership of the Kisii County Medical Director Dr. Geoffrey Otomu who said that the county is well prepared to counter any diseases that might come up due to the Elnino rains.

Dr. Otomu also said the county will distribute mosquito nets to its residents at the end of October to stop the spread of malaria.

He said that they have already mapped out areas that they expect to experience disease outbreaks and they have already sent teams to the identified areas which are working with the communities on the prevention measures.

He added that they have enough medicine as the health department and that they are well prepared for the Elnino as a county.

“As the department of health we are very ready because we have put up preventive measures and soon we are starting up a mass distribution of Mosquito nets across the county,” said Otomu.

The Kisii County Health CeC Sarah Omache also praised the AMREF organization and called on the volunteer health officers to work hard noting that they do not want to have complains after.

She also said that the officers are well trained and they will have a refresher training again after sometime and urged them to work as a team in eradicating unwanted diseases.
