Youth from Athi River Sub-County have been urged to be good peace ambassadors within the region and its environment in a bid to spurr development.

Speaking in his office on Thursday, Athi River Deputy County Commissioner Kodeck Makori said the youth could be the best group of people to help sustain security in the sub-county.

"I call on all youth from the entire Athi River Sub-County to be at the fore front in ensuring there is increased security in and outside the region," said Makori.

Makori said that was one of the best ways for the youth to show their patriotism to the country and Machakos County.

He said that enhanced security would ensure safety among the residents and their neighbourhoods thereby promoting the region's growth and development.

Makori said the sub-county was ideal for lots of private and corporate investments revealing that several companies and individuals had expressed their interests in investing in the area.

He called on youth from the region, especially those operating bodaboda businesses not to accept being misused in destabilising the area's security through unnecessary demonstrations, skirmishes and the likes.

The commissioner said youth should be law abiding people and work hard through engaging in constructive economic and social activities that can improve their livelihoods.
