Over 10 barmaids were arrested on Tuesday for not complying with alcohol regulation commonly known as Mututho laws.
According to the area chief, Daniel Mbaka who led the operation in assistance with administration police gave a warning to bar owners over opening bars before the set time which is 5.00pm.
He said the bar owners have not been cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing fight against drug abuse.
"We have decided to carry out a strict operation to arrest those who are not working within the laws given by both the county and the National government, we wont allow alcohol to be abused in the area by business personalities who don’t care of other people's lives" said Mbaka
The chief warned those who haven’t been arrested during the operation to make sure that they adhere to all laws regulating alcohol consumption and help the government in fighting the drug abuse.
The arrested victims will be spending their night at Gesonso police station before they are arraigned in court on Wednesday.
