The wife of the late Nakuru tycoon and hotelier, Stephen Kung’u, has dismissed claims that her late husband was married to another wife.

This came after a woman came out demanding a share of the late tycoon’s estate, which is estimated at billions of shillings

The widow, Ms Grace Nyambura, yesterday told Nakuru’s court Lady Justice Abigail Mshila that a Ms Joyce Wanjiku, who has filed a petition demanding a share of the late tycoon’s wealth together with her three children, was not married to her late husband and therefore it was not in order for her to demand a share of her husband’s wealth.

She added that the woman who had filed the petition served as a worker at one of their businesses but had no affair with her husband who died on April 6, leaving behind a vast estate of businesses in Nakuru and Nairobi as well as cash deposits in several banks.

The widow insists that she was legally married to her late husband in a church wedding which took place on November 7, 1984 and together they had six children up to the time her husband passed on after suffering from diabetes.

She argued before the court that the wealth they had with her husband was jointly acquired and dismissed the other woman’s claim, terming it as baseless.

“It through collective hard work that my late husband and I acquired this wealth and for anyone to come claiming a share of it is totally out of order,” she said.

She added that it was through her much commitment that they were able to move from their initial state of poverty to the current state of wealth.
